Tattenai, governor of Beyond the River
Persian governor (peḥah) of the province "Beyond the River" under Darius I, who inquired into the Temple rebuilding and wrote to Darius (Ezra 5:3–17; 6:6–13). A Babylonian document of 502 BC reportedly names a Tattannu governor of Ebir-nāri (Olmstead 1944; Kidner) — not read here.
